Goodbye EfN Pages

Pictures taken at the 22nd.

So earlier this afternoon I mailed out to my former opponents the actual watercolor pages of my Escape from Nevara comic pages before I scanned them in and added text bubbles and etc. On one hand there's this beautiful sense of accomplishment at holding something like a year's worth of drawings and ideas put down unto paintings and comics, and on the other hand-it's taking up space. Which was why I was happy to mail these out to those who might appreciate these, a better fate than just gathering dust at some storage bin to be forgotten until the next clean up and nostalgia wave.

Being a chicken dork-I never got the chance to write to those people how happy I was I got to 'fight' them-got to use and draw their characters, and how being in that OCT led me to having some more confidence in my work, and meeting new friends and hell- even getting a school and scholarship from using some of these pages and writing up my EfN experience as my school letter! XD

I guess that's one reason why I took the plunge and decided to try for the Many Worlds OCT- to see if lightning will strike twice and I get lucky.

Though the major difference between these two OCTs was that I spent the first half of the year with no job and school, and lost in the semi-finals when I did go back for the fall semester. This is my senior year so it'll take some time management learning to juggle this and my school stuff. Here's hoping.

Trine and sibling cooperative play

Today finished playing Trine with my brother and sister, and man is it so much fun insulting, screaming and laughing at each other's deaths, mishaps and achievements at a gorgeous looking but still kind of a buggy game. Bro played knight, I played wizard, sis played thief.

Not much feeling like doodling people atm, I think doing these abstract color things will give my head the space to just chill and experiment. I'm hoping with enough practice I'll start being able to think outside of the box (eg. sky is blue, skin is tan, etc.) Too bad I double shrunk that 2nd picture by accident. Whoops.

Blackout

Well that was interesting.

We did our usual 3D animation stuff and just when I was getting the hang of things we get a blackout.

It was a pretty interesting experience since I haven't experienced a total blackout in the US yet, and inside school to boot. Turns out the whole of Upper Oakland lost power, so it was pitch dark outside save for a couple of emergency generators and everyone using their celphones, bike lights and my clip light to get around.

I ended up hanging out with my old Character Design teacher Ed Bell, Cel, Dan and Adam and we all walked and talked to the Rockridge Bart which we took so we were a good 45 minutes ahead of the shuttle.

Walking and talking in the dark reminded me a lot of things- like the time my cousins and I went up their hill and saw the night sky, the time my family and I took a firefly river boat ride and the time me, lal and pa got lost looking for a resort, and it was such a gorgeous night too.

We spent the rest of the night having a 'fight night,' basically Adam teaching the guys and Colleen how to box, then they started sparring with wooden katanas and made me try- I gave Colleen a bruise to the face D8.
