WHOOPS

Apparently I already did a doodle today-which was like 12 am in the morning, and today I did two more because I didn't like how the first color scheme worked out. Oh bother. D8

Nothing special much happened today but I signed up for an online storyboard class and had to drop plans to join a comic anthology. 8| As much as I would have loved to have tried to be back of a published thing, I don't have the mindset to think about a whole new story/comic. I've got other projects to worry about.

Doodle of the day

I forgot to mention from the previous posts- I've been getting my palettes from this site. I think, while I'm still trying to sort my brain out, this should let me try and flex my creativity outside of my stories and aspirations and expectations just let me fiddle with colors.

Didn't do much today except do more school related stuff for ma and watch a butt load of documentaries like Modern Marvels of China's Great Wall, Las Vegas, Pompeii, and then a bit of Beethoven. It's nice binging on historical info, I just wish I knew how to implement this love for history into my art.

Photo color study FAIL

Not a good idea to try and attempt a color study when feeling extremely down and artistically inadequate-it just makes you feel all the more like poop.

Nightsurfing doodle

Trying to get back to the whole doodle a day thing to get back to learning color composition.
The last days have been uneventful but been feeling more and more depressed over art skills and such, but after talking with a very good friend, the feeling eased up a bit.

Moving back to the dorms

Today I moved back to the Webster dorms (but first I had to head back to the school campus to pick up the dorm keys there). It wasn't total wasted trip; I finally got to pick up my junior review written feedback. A bit of a let down I guess, since I was half hoping I was impressive enough to say- get an email address from one of the guest panelist for internship, hahaha XD;;;

Got to the dorms, cleaned up a bit, unpacked my gear and plopped on the internet. Did some grocery shopping with a friend, rewatched a Dr. Who episode with said friend, then finally saw Rango (plot's decent, animation, texture and design were really something).

Didn't have a dorm party like I hoped not (wasn't in the mood tbh, art funk) but that got dispelled after I was able to talk to someone about my comic plots, and after she made me decide on one direction (instead of flip flopping between different versions) BAM- started doodling layouts.

Couldn't think of a color doodle for my exercise so I just did a quick reference study of my wacom pen stand.

Animation Mentor- Anatomy of a Fight

These were the notes I jotted down while I was listening to this free Animation Mentor webinar of Dr. Stuart Sumida.

Blackout

Well that was interesting.

We did our usual 3D animation stuff and just when I was getting the hang of things we get a blackout.

It was a pretty interesting experience since I haven't experienced a total blackout in the US yet, and inside school to boot. Turns out the whole of Upper Oakland lost power, so it was pitch dark outside save for a couple of emergency generators and everyone using their celphones, bike lights and my clip light to get around.

I ended up hanging out with my old Character Design teacher Ed Bell, Cel, Dan and Adam and we all walked and talked to the Rockridge Bart which we took so we were a good 45 minutes ahead of the shuttle.

Walking and talking in the dark reminded me a lot of things- like the time my cousins and I went up their hill and saw the night sky, the time my family and I took a firefly river boat ride and the time me, lal and pa got lost looking for a resort, and it was such a gorgeous night too.

We spent the rest of the night having a 'fight night,' basically Adam teaching the guys and Colleen how to box, then they started sparring with wooden katanas and made me try- I gave Colleen a bruise to the face D8.
