Woke up blissfully happy that I had no morning class to attend to.
Unfortunately I had to chuck away the pot of arrozcaldo that I made two days ago: I hate wasting rice but I got a bad feeling about how the rice looked and it's consistency, and that I realized I cannot stand eating the same meal for more than two days. This has been a very wasteful week of rice.
Common kitchen sink's still clogged. I wonder when is it ever going to get fixed.
At school, I spoke first with my advisor about the new class schedules just to be sure I'm doing okay. The only thing that worried me was the two of us sort of realizing with the amount of units that I already have, I'm due for a review panel. I also randomly came across Ed Gutierrez (last year's Drawing for Animation teacher and 3D anim1) and spoke to him about whole junior review thing.
I'm worried because last semester he came to us pretty disappointed because a lot of students were rather ill prepared for the review. Anyhow he said he'd be happy to take a look at anything I'd cobble together so that made me tons better.
Our 3D animation teacher wasn't in class today, but my history of animation teacher Segal was subbing. What mostly happened was that we all fiddled around Maya trying to remember our interfaces and ball bounce physics, while he played some dvds of Richard William's Animator's Survival Kit and then some commentary features on Looney Tunes dvds.
After class I ended up chatting with Segal about short cartoons then and now (like Looney Tunes vs The Looney Tunes show of today, Silly Symphonies vs Mickey Mouse Shorts of today), and ended up recommending/fangushing Adventure Time and Phineas and Ferb to him when he mentioned interest in it but haven't seen it yet. That fangushing followed through to Cel and Nicole(?) who were also waiting for the school night bus- we ended up ticking off all the 90s shows that made Nickelodeon, CN and Disney awesome before.
Later in the bus, Cel mentioned he wants to pitch his animation short to the whole lot of us, and there was a quick discussion of who might possibly do what. I sort of volunteered for cleanup since my OCD/proportional and line perfectionist tendencies might of better use there, but then Cel said he might want me in Layout, then he explained cause of how I place my settings and eye for perspective.
I have no idea how he knew that of me (since we haven't been in the same animation classes and I don't quite remember showing him anything ), but having someone acknowledge the skills that you try to work had at, oh man- I was all giggles and smiles inside.
